Multiplication Explain yourself

This week we had to find a strategy that we had used in the past and make a DLO or make an explain everything. I chose to make an explain everything. The equation that I had chosen was 48 times 3. We were not allowed to just right the answer we had to show how we worked it out.

Expanding Balloons

Today we did an experiment to do with weather. We put a balloon on a cap on a bottle and put the bottle in a bucket of hot water. First the teacher got a bucket and put hot water in it. Next we put the balloon on the cap. We had extra balloon just in case. We are learning the effects of temperature on air.

Rotational Symmetry

For the past couple of weeks we have been learning about Rotational Symmetry. Our task was to make a design on google drawing. The design you had to make was something that looks exactly the same when you rotate it.
 

Roald Amundsen Infomation Report

We have been learning about Antarctica for about 1 month because we went to the Antarctic Centre and we had to write an information report about  Explorers, Animals, or Climate. I picked Explorers. The explorer that I chose was Roald Amundsen. The first step was to pick a topic. The next step was to make a introduction. The third thing to do was a description. And the last thing to do was a evaluation. This information report took lots and lots of research.

Weather Art

This week for 2 days we have been making a rainy day piece of art  with dye and crayons. Our WALT was to use crayon and dye to create a rainy day. The first step was to use a white crayon to make the rain. The next step to do was to make a rainbow if you want. I chose to make a rainbow. The last step was to dye your picture with black and blue dye.

Growth Mindset & Fixed Mindset

A couple of weeks ago we were learning about growth mindset and fixed mindset for power time. We watched a short video about Luke Skywalker and Yoda lifting an X-Wing out of a lake. Luke had fixed mindset which means he thinks he can't do it and he doesn't want to do it. Yoda try to tell him you have to believe in yourself to use the force. Luke believed in himself and then he was able to do it. We made a DLO about it.

My Antarctica Description

This week and last week we have been learning about Antarctica. We had to write a description about Antarctica . The reason why we are writing about Antarctica is because a few weeks ago we went to the Antarctic Center.

Antarctica is a cold place in the world where you would probably die if you are only wearing 1 layer of clothing. Antarctica is the coldest, iciest, biggest, driest and whitest continent in the world . It is also known as the Icy desert.

When you go to Antarctica you have to where at least 4 layers of special clothing because it is freezing cold. The coldest temperature in Antarctica is -89.2 C and the hottest temperature in Antarctica is -17.5 C. 90% of the world's freshwater is in Antarctica. The first person to explore Antarctica was Roald Amundsen and the first person to discover Antarctica was Captain James Cook and his crew. James cook and his crew sailed around the Antarctic circle on a boat. There are about 4,000 people who go to Antarctica in the Summer and about 1,000 people in winter each year.

Antarctica is the Earth's southernmost continent. It is located in the South Pole. It's almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle. Around Antarctica is the Southern Ocean.

Penguin Art

This week we have been painting penguins. First we had to sketch a penguin that was on the T.V. The first color we painted with was the black. Then next color we painted with was the orange and yellow. And the last colors we painted with was the green for the eye and the orange and yellow  Our WALT was to use paint to create the effect of feathers. Its took us about 4 days to complete but in the end this is how my one turned out.
