- Our activity was to take a screenshot that was on our school site.
- The picture was a body and we had to name the muscles.
- To name the muscles there were links on the site that we had to explore.
- When you figured out what the body part was we had to insert a text box and write what muscle it was.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 8 and in 2021 I will be a year 9. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Thunder and lightning
W.A.L.T. Explore and discuss major features of the weather for example wind, clouds and rain.
For 3 weeks we have been learning about weather. We had to make an information report about a weather feature of our choice. The weather feature I chosen was thunderstorms. We needed to do 6 to 10 paragraphs. Today was the last day to finish it. Please give me some feedback and I will use it.

Thunderstorms
One of the deadliest weather features ever is the thunderstorms. Thunderstorms can make powerlines fall and if power lines fall that means you won’t have any power.
Thunderstorms are most likely to happen in the spring and summer months and during the afternoon and evening hours. There about 10,000 thunderstorms in the world each day
Air is a very poor conductor of electricity and gets extremely hot when lightning passes through it. In fact, lightning can heat the air it passes through to 50,000 degrees celsius that 5 times hotter than the surface of the sun. Lightning can get to 30,000 kelvins which is 29726.85 in celsius.
There are about 16 million thunderstorms a year, and at any moment there are about 2,000 thunderstorms right now. There are about 100,000 each year in the U.S alone About 10% of these reach severe levels.
A thunderstorm is a storm with lightning and thunder. It's made by a cumulonimbus cloud, usually producing gusty winds, heavy rain and sometimes hail. The basic ingredients used to make a thunderstorm are moisture, unstable air and lift. You need moisture to form clouds and rain.
You know that thunder is only a sound but do you know how it is caused. Thunder is caused by lightning. When a lightning bolt travels from the cloud to the ground it opens up a little hole in the air, called a channel. Once the light is gone the air collapses back in and creates a sound wave that we hear as thunder.
I like thunderstorms because I can watch them outside threw the window. My favourite thing about thunderstorms is the colour of the sky when all of the blue sky get taken over by the black and grey storm clouds.
Hope you learned something from my information report. Please read my story and leave some feedback and I will probably use that feedback in a different information report
Doubles and Halves Strategy
In Maths I have been learning solve multiplication problems by doubling and halving. We had to make a screencastify or explain everything to show how to use that strategy and help people solve there equations faster. I choose to make an explain everything.

Thunderstorm Art
This term we have been learning about weather. In art we have been making a stormy day art. We got handed a rough piece of black paper. The first thing we did was make a silhouette. We could pick what background we wanted. The options was trees and buildings. We had 5 minutes to draw our background and cut it out. When we were done we went the other class to dye our paper. We got a white piece of paper to put the background on. The colours that we had were light blue, dark blue and black. We dyed it sideways instead of upwards. When we finished that we cleaned the paint brushes. The last step was to draw the lightning, paint the cloud and stick the silhouette on the white paper. The first thing that happened was that you got given your stuff to you. The first then I did was stick my silhouette of my paper. Next I waited to get called up to either do the lightning or make the stormy cloud. I got called up to do the stormy cloud first. We had to use a dabbing technique to make the cloud. We had to make the stormy cloud black. The final thing to do was to make our lightning bolt coming out of the cloud. We mad the lightning bolt with white paint. When I finished I put my paper on the table to dry.
